Coachella Music Festival - Indio, CA - April 15-17, 2011

It’s time again for Coachella, the juggernaut of a festival with a line-up that’s as insane as the attendees…who else would brave 100+ degree heat for 3 days to see their favorite artists!?! The tickets carried a hefty price tag when they were first released but the festival still sold out in record time this year, so if you haven’t already secured your tickets you just might be out of luck. More tickets were released this year that were VIP only and the cost was $975 dollars each! There are still tickets available from 3rd parties re-selling them but be careful to avoid any scams and even though the price is ridiculous many people are willing to pay. For those who already bought tickets, you’re just counting the days until the madness and fun begin!!

We focus mostly on the dance/electronic artists at FestivalZoo and if we look at each day as a whole, Friday looks to offer a solid line-up highlighted by the Chemical Brothers, Sasha, Eric Morillo, Boyz Noize, Afrojack and Sander Kleinenberg.

As the festival moves into Saturday there is a wide variety of DJ’s to check out including: Steve Angello, Paul Van Dyk, Fedde le Grand, Laidback Luke, Chuckie, Joachim Garraud. Empire of the Sun and Big Audio Dynamite add a rock/electronic flavor that I’m sure will prove to be amazing. This is a comeback reunion for B.A.D. which includes Mick Jones of the Clash.

Sunday appears to have the smallest pool of DJ’s in terms of volume but the quality is still incredible. One of the most exciting names on Sunday will be Sven Vath! He rarely makes a North American appearance, so this is BIG! Coachella will also be the perfect stage for Axwell to drop his signature sound sure to be full of high energy anthems. The Bloody Beetroots, Duck Sauce, Green Velvet and Riva Starr are also solid and a must see if you can schedule your day accordingly.

Of course Coachella is more than just about the music and your 3-day Coachella experience will vary greatly depending on a variety of factors. One big component of your weekend is whether you’re camping or if you decide to rent a house/condo nearby. Please check our “Planning” section for more information on what to bring in order to make your Coachella experience the best ever!
